Today I wondered about Italy. Specifically I thought about what I "think" I know about Italy and what I would like to learn. I used the Idea Mapping template at
Webspiration, an online visual thinking tool, to help me brainstorm some ideas. I hope to publish my Italy Idea Map here! Some things I thought about:

What languages are spoken in Italy besides Italian?
What is the climate of Italy? (weather, people, etc.)
How do I get around in Italy?
What is the exchange rate there and possible costs?
What is there to see in Italy?
Is there anyone famous who once lived in Italy?
Hi Carol! I was happy to see the topic of your project and it'll be fun to follow along. It's hard to decide what specific tract to explore, isn't it? there are so many possibilities. Is there any way to apply your love of fitness in it? Like, hiking/biking trails in Italy. Check out sites on Cinque Terra. http://www.cinqueterre.com/eng/information/hiking. These are 5 ancient fishing villages on the Liguorian coast situated in the mountainside. You can hike between villages. There are discounted trips available for people who help maintain the trails and you stay with locals - cool!
ReplyDeleteI am wondering some more as I have narrowed my focus. When considering my life here in American and imagining that life in Italy, I need to add more questions such as:
ReplyDeleteWhat is the education system like in Italy?
What is the predominate religion?
What do people do in their free time?
I also realize that I can "throw out" my question regarding famous Italians. This aspect does not fit into my narrowed focus. During this phase, I believe I have practiced some dispositions and behaviors of a mature critical thinker and inquirer as noted in The Blue Book (p. 116). I have been flexible, curious, organized, and open-minded to possibilities that this inquiry offered. These skills are indicative of college level critical thinking skills (p. 115).
Jen: Thanks for your suggestions about hiking in Italy. I found a great site:

Now when I go I will be torn between hiking in the park system or visiting all the wonderful sites unique to Italy!
